I know what you’re thinking… there’s no crying in baseball and there’s certainly no hair and makeup in triathlon!
Now don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying to go get a blowout and fake lashes before your next race. #ImReadyForMyCloseup
But, it’s evident with all the super cute feminine tri gear that’s out – us ladies still want to look and feel our best from training to race day. Sirens do you feel me?#WeAreSirens
So, how do we tame the mane so it will stay put from swim through run? I’d say braids are the number one go-to across the board. Single, double, fishtail or Dutch, any braid works as long as it’s tight, neat and flows down your nape. This is not the time for Bobby pins and clip in hair extensions...
Keep it simple and it will stay put all day.
Now onto more important things… SKIN! What’s the number one most important skin care item? SPF! But I didn’t need to tell you that! #CoverupButtercup
You’ve got to use a high factor SPF. If you’ve got oily acne prone skin like me – I like La Roche-Posay dry touch. It leaves a smooth matte finish and hasn’t caused a break out in the last three years I’ve used it. It also packs a protection factor of 65 (just remember to reapply at transition) Bare republic makes a nice tinted SPF if you’d feel more comfortable with a little bit of coverage.
P.S. Wear a hat!
Technically, you could be done... But have you met me? Well, probably not – but if you have, you know I never leave home without my brows in place and my lashes curled.
What would withstand the salt water, sweat, sun and celebration of a full race day? None other than my go to, ride-or-dies: Wunderbrow brow gel and L’Oreal lash paradise waterproof mascara. I’ve worn this combo through my tris and swim and/or bike and/or run training days with no need to touch up. So if you’re like me and are okay with being a little extra to look and feel your best, try these out!
